Join Chair, Chad McCurdy to brainstorm and plan a STEAM Competition for our area.

We would like to discuss the specific competitions we might hold. We need to get an idea of what staffing we'll need so we can begin to assemble a list of volunteers.

We would love to be able to showcase the different organizations and they are working to advance STEAM with our children. So anyone that has eSports, robotics programs, Stem camps, etc. This is to be a showcase of the talents of our kids now and a presentation of the resources available to thos that want to pursue STEAM.

Some of you may have notice that we changed stem to steam. In this case the A does not stand for art, it stands for avionics. We have a gentleman named John Mays that is starting an avionics program in Cedar Hill. It is also my understanding that Cedar valley College is starting an avionics program as well. It seems to fit in nicely with the other areas where children will be competing. For the purposes of this competition avionics would include probably races and/or a lifting contest.

For the purpose of clarification we do not think we're going to be able to hold the competition this school year. We really want to make sure that we have everything in place, that this is well thought out, that this becomes a blueprint for an event that we can hold every year, and one in which the kids look forward to competing in year after year. The current plan would be to host a competition in the 2023-2024 school year. I realized that this pushes the date out yet another school year but we really think it's imperative that we do this correctly.

We will meet in the Lobby area of TSTC (1st Floor Reception) then take a tour of the facility with Provost Marcus Balch.

We will then convene in the large second floor conference room to discuss logistics and planning with BSWP Education Committee.
